People always know the answer to the question “what is the first thing that a dog or cat does when they get up?” If you thought the word “stretch” then you also have the correct answer. When I observe animals, they will often be using their body in a way that keeps them tones. Think of all of the muscular strength and endurance that a cat develops as they hunt while staying low to the ground as they approach their prey. The main reason that a cat is said to have nine lives is because they keep their body flexible by actively stretching or lying in ways that stretch the rib cage and spine. As a result, when they fall from thirty feet they are often able to survive the ordeal with little or no injury. It is their body’s ability to flexibly adapt to trauma combined with the healthy tone of their muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and bones that ensures their survivability.
