So many children have poor posture habits. I know that every parent loves their child and wants the best for them. The fact that their children are allowed to slouch informs me about how little parents truly know about maintaining the spinal health of their children. If left unattended to poor posture can lead to rotator cuff tears, neck pain, disc herniation in the low back, as well as chronic mid-back pain and early arthritic changes within the spine. In recent years, a great deal of emphasis in chiropractic continuing educational training has been placed upon the rehabilitation of incorrect posture and poor body movement habits which are known to promote injury. With the employment of posture correction, proper bending techniques and other healthy body activation exercises, the patient’s condition often resolves more quickly. Training healthy movement habits will provide patients with long term corrective disciplines they employ on their own to auto-correct the cause of their pain. I have recently learned that nurses are being trained in these and other healthy lifestyle modifications as an essential component of patient care. |
